Homestead, FL, is situated in the southern most portion of the incorporated areas of Miami-Dade County. It is about an hour south of Miamia and when driving to the Florida Keys is the last major city you’ll drive through before hitting the Southern Glades (the drive to Key Largo is about 35 minutes). To the west of Homestead, you will find the Everglades. The city is rapidly growing, and the decade between 2000 and 2010 saw a near doubling of the population, which is currently around 65,000.
Getting around Homestead is easy, too, and the city is well set up with public transport if you feel like leaving the car at home for the day. In fact, you will also be able to use the Homestead Trolley for free and this service operates through residential and commercial neighborhoods, the college campus and historic downtown Homestead. Additionally, from January to April, you can catch a free trolley to the Biscayne and Everglades National Parks every weekend.
Homes for sale in Homestead are available to fit pretty much anyone’s needs at every price range. The least expensive homes that you will find in this city cost about $30,000. That being the case, the homes for sale in the upper range can be ten times that amount or more with a handful of properties being priced at or above the $3 million mark. However, most of the homes that you will find in Homestead are between $150,000 and $250,000, making the city comfortably affordable for most middle class families.
